Featured Quilt - Have You Ever Seen an Eleven-Point Star?

We hadn't either, until we laid our eyes on Beatrice Hughes' appropriately titled Eleven-Point Star I. Quilted by Nancy Bieber, and featured as part of the AQS Medallion Inspirations Collection Special Exhibit that was on display AQS QuiltWeek – Paducah 2025, Beatrice's quilt features so many intricate pieces and quilting motifs that it'll take us more than one viewing to appreciate all that's going on.

She says, "This star quilt, based on an eleven-sided polygon (called a hendecagon), features thousands of diamond shapes within the star, borders, and quilting motifs. Altogether, these elements made a balanced design. Many years of designing, learning techniques, construction, and quilting (amongst many of life’s interruptions) went into this quilt. An extension of a previous project, the 1010-piece quilt came together after designing the pattern and quilting motifs to fit neatly in intended spaces. Completing this gave a particular feeling of pride and satisfaction."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Birthday Guild Challenge

"Holiday Spirit" by Bethanne Nemesh

Holiday Spirit was a guild challenge for Bethanne Nemesh where she had to feature her birthday, which is December 30th. The muse represents December and there are 30 pine cones to represent the date. Made in the early 2000s, it's a bit different from what we see her doing today.

Her star scarf looks very much like a machine-made technique because of its absolutely sharp lines. Being combined with many small motifs makes them a new level of hand-embroidered Uno Online Free art.
